Rules- designed to protect- sometimes ourselves, at other times those in power. And, rules are there to be broken, even if only to find out why they are there. `Avoid the Buffet when staying at large Protea Hotels.' This could be one of those rules set as part of a propaganda plot by the BnB Industry, to engender support for quaint aan-ge-naaide lodges run by 50 something woman while their engineer husband brings in the real money. Or, it could be...well there I was. 1 day holiday between training courses on the KZN South Coast. This romantic image of a day in a beach front hotel, is not living up to its expectations- a childhood hangover that romanticises and glorifies hotels. The weather is crap, I am worn down from partying over the weekend and have been travelling for 2 days. In an attempt to find some hidden exotic pleasure over a late breakfast- the epitomy of decadence I fork a pork sausage, lather it in tomatoe sauce and douse it down with hotel coffee. The next 2 days are spent kweezing around, running for the toilet and well feeling pretty kak. Serious advice to those travelling- this rule is for your own good-AVOID THE BUFFET AT LARGE PROTEA HOTELS!!!
